ا ب ت ث ج ح خ د ذ ر ز س ش ص ض ط ظ ع غ ف ق ك ل م ن و ه ء ي
The 29 letters of the Arabic alphabet in their isolated form — the starting point for every new reader.
بَ تَ ثَ جَ حَ خَ دَ ذَ رَ
A short line above a letter gives it a short 'a' sound.
بِ تِ ثِ جِ حِ خِ دِ ذِ رِ
A short line below a letter gives it a short 'i' sound.
بُ تُ ثُ جُ حُ خُ دُ ذُ رُ
A small loop above a letter gives it a short 'u' sound.
بً بٍ بٌ
Double Fatha, Kasra and Damma add an 'n' sound at the end of a word (an / in / un).
با بی بو
Alif, Yaa and Waw stretch a short vowel into a long one — baa, bee, boo.
بْ اَبْ
A small circle shows the letter has no vowel at all and is pronounced sharply.
بّ رَبّ
A small w-shape doubles a letter's sound.
كَتَبَ — قَلَم — بَيْت
Practice reading full words once single letters and vowels feel comfortable.
مِنْ — عَنْ — كِتَابٌ
A gentle first introduction to how these letters change sound depending on what follows — the foundation of Tajweed.
مـ ط ج قلی لا
Small marks in the Qur'an that show a student where it's best, permitted, or not allowed to pause.
بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ
Putting it all together — reading short, familiar phrases with confidence.
ا ب ت ث ج ح خ د ذ ر ز س ش ص ض ط ظ ع غ ف ق ك ل م ن و ه ء ي
Every letter said clearly on its own, focusing on its correct Makhraj (point of articulation) before moving on.
بَ بِ بُ — تَ تِ تُ — ثَ ثِ ثُ
Once a letter is known with Fatha, Kasra and Damma, the student repeats it quickly and smoothly, without dragging the sound.
ا و ي
Alif, Waw and Yaa behave differently to other letters — they are the key to every long vowel sound.
بـ ـبـ ـب — كتب — علم
Arabic letters change shape slightly depending on whether they begin, sit in the middle of, or end a word.
مً مٍ مٌ — مَنْ — مِنْ
Double vowels add a trailing 'n' sound; a Noon with Sukoon behaves in several different ways depending on the next letter.
اَلْـ — رَبَّ
A letter with no vowel at all (Sukoon), and a doubled letter (Shaddah), both change the rhythm of a word.
الم — يس — طه
The 'disconnected letters' that open some Surahs are read letter-by-letter rather than as a normal word.
قُلْ هُوَ اللّٰهُ أَحَدٌ
Bringing every rule together to read short, complete phrases confidently and correctly.
بَ بِ بُ
Fatha, Kasra and Damma are colour-marked so a young reader can spot each vowel sound at a glance.
با — بً بٍ بٌ
Long vowels and Tanween get their own colours too, making the difference easy to see before it's easy to hear.
